Tejpal surrendered before a Goa court on September 14, to serve his 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentence
The Supreme Court on Friday (September 25, 2026) issued notice to the State of Goa on an appeal filed by former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal against a Bombay High Court judgment sentencing him to 10 years’ imprisonment in a 2013 rape case.
A Bench headed by Justice M.M. Sundresh took on board the appeal in a brief hearing. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal for Tejpal introduced the case as one of reversal of conviction and prison sentence. Mr. Sibal said his client had already surrendered.
